&TEAM Said “Good Boy,” and I Actually Listened

I’ll be honest: I wasn’t very familiar with &TEAM’s game before “Good Boy” somehow found its way onto my radar. And it did so in the most unexpected way possible.

It started with random TikToks poking fun at the song’s title and the fact that the members of CORTIS had a hand in its production. A few days later, a performance video appeared on my YouTube recommendations. Naturally, I was intrigued. Mostly because of the title. I genuinely wanted to know what kind of song this could possibly be. 

Then I heard it… and WOW. Just pat my head and call me a good boy because I will definitely be howling at the next full moon. 

The chorus is ridiculously catchy, the beat has just enough bounce to make you start nodding your head before you even realize it, and suddenly your body is moving along with it. There’s something effortlessly fun about the song. Even if some of the lyrics make you raise an eyebrow, I can’t deny how much I enjoy it. Almost everyday since I have listened to it, I’ll randomly catch myself singing the chorus throughout the day, I’m actually quite addicted. 

I’m not completely new to &TEAM. I’ve known about the group for a while and recognized most of the members from their time on the survival show I-LAND. But I was never particularly invested in the group beyond the occasional video that crossed my feed—especially clips of  Maki, my favorite example of fatal duality. When you catch him on stage, he will take your breath away then turn around and do the same thing with his humor and brainrot personality. Before “Good Boy,” though, I had never really listened to their music or sat down to watch their performances.

Apparently, I’ve been missing out.

“Good Boy” is one of those wonderfully unserious songs that doesn’t require you to dissect every lyric or search for some deeper meaning before you’re allowed to enjoy it. Sometimes a song just needs a good beat, an addictive chorus, and enough personality to make you want to play it again.

What makes it even more amusing is how deeply the song is tied to &TEAM’s werewolf lore. There’s something almost ironic about watching a group with an entire supernatural mythology surrounding them deliver a song called “Good Boy” with this much confidence. The contrast somehow makes the whole thing even more entertaining.

Whatever spell &TEAM has cast with this song, it worked. I came for the questionable title, stayed for the chorus, and now I’m apparently part of the “Good Boy” agenda.
